Body Therapist Bios

Sadie Bertelsen, LMT, NCTMB is a graduate of the Providence Institute’s massage therapy program and has been practicing since August 2006. Since then she has taken courses in more specific techniques to treat postural deviations, pain patterns, and injuries. She uses assisted stretching, trigger point release, myofascial release, and sport’s massage techniques. All treatments are integrated with Swedish massage to sooth the body and help it to assimilate the specific work. Her greater intention is always to bring balance back to her client’s body in a way which suits them at the moment, keeping in mind that we are each individual, vital beings. She also thoroughly enjoys giving Swedish and deep Swedish massage for general wellness and stress reduction.

Yvonne M. Esker, LMT, is a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist and an active member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals. Receiving her certification from The Providence Institute in Tucson, AZ, Yvonne utilizes integrated Deep Tissue, Hydrotherapy, Lymph Massage, Mammassage™, Myofascial Release, Prenatal, Swedish, and Specific Trigger Point therapies. She is currently practicing her craft at The Providence institute, Desert Palms Physical Therapy, and in her own private practice. Additionally, Yvonne enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience in the classroom at the Providence Institute. As a founding member of the Tucson Christian Bodyworkers Alliance she provides bodywork services to churches and a variety of retreats. Under the tutelage of Daya Fisch of the Breast Health Project, Yvonne teaches breast health awareness and techniques via community workshops.

Theresa Fine, LMT, has been practicing bodywork for 13 years. She began with her interest in combining a Swedish massage approach with deep specific techniques. Soon after graduation in 1995, she began continuing education in core manipulation, addressing the muscles connecting the head, spine, ribcage, and pelvis. Growing out of this study was an interest in the organs of the body, which led her to study organ rejuvenation massage and breathing practices traditionally named Chi Nei Tsang. From there, she has studied and still is enthusiastically learning Shiatsu and Craniosacral therapies to include in her body work practice. While all the modalities of the East and West are interests and part of her study, what Theresa practices is a mindful approach to bodywork that allows for the client’s needs to lead the session in a compassionate and safe space where the possibility of different levels of healing may be experienced. She believes in inviting compassion, skill, information and presence to be her guide.

Taza Guthrie, LMT, received her 1000-hour massage training at Desert Institute of the Healing Arts (now Cortiva Institute) in Tucson and was certified in December 1987. She has supplemented her education with a variety of seminars over the years, and she specializes in intuitive and specific work combined with a deeply compassionate core. The desire to expand her involvement with energetic modalities of treatment led her to begin the study of Jin Shin Jyutsu® in 2003. “Jin Shin Jyutsu” translates as “the Art of the Creator through Compassionate Human.” It is a profoundly relaxing treatment that helps bring balance and clarity to the body’s energy system.

Heidi Reeves is an intuitive LMT who practices Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports, and Specific massages while incorporating various techniques and modalities such as myo fascial work, trigger point therapy, ROM (range of motion), stretches, cranio sacral therapy, and reiki. Heidi’s attention to detail and commitment to delivering a therapeutic, compassionate treatment makes her bodywork a relieving and reviving experience.

Jeannee Vale, LMT, began her massage career in April 2007 after graduating from Cortiva Desert Institute of the Healing Arts. She completed a 1,00o-hour massage program establishing a thorough knowledge base of the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Jeannee enjoys combining this knowledge with her intention for overall wellness. She specializes in integrated Swedish massage, myofacial and deep tissue work. Through stretching and ergonomics instruction, Jeannee works to help clients achieve greater self awareness.
