Yoga Classes at the Providence Institute

Yoga Lunge

We offer 50 classes per week in our beautiful studio. Our experienced and dedicated staff of instructors offers classes ranging from gentle to vigorous in various traditions. We are pleased to offer classes for all levels of practice, from beginners to those with established practices. The ancient science of hatha yoga is presented in a friendly environment that encourages a fun and reverent practice. No prior experience is needed for many of our classes. If you’re not sure where to begin, give us a call to help you decide which classes to start with.

As part of our commitment to community, we are pleased to offer the following:

  • All yoga classes $2 on the first day of every month*
  • Ten Discounted Community Yoga classes/week ($5)

Class Descriptions

Anusara
A heart centered practice grounded in the Universal Principles of Alignment for the inner and outer body. Anusara means “flowing with grace”.

Hatha Yoga
Traditional yoga postures are integrated with mindful breath practices to increase strength, flexibility, balance and peace of mind. Classes vary from gentle to vigorous.

Hatha with Beats
An invigorating hatha class accompanied by music.

Hot Room Yoga
Hot Room Yoga is practiced in a heated room to facilitate stretching and cleansing.

Pilates
Strengthen, stretch and tone while increasing body mind awareness. Classic mat exercises.

Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga
Postures, breath and relaxation techniques for pre/postnatal women. Yoga for Women classes (are also great classes for pre/post natal women.

Restoratives
Gentle, supported postures and breathing techniques to relieve stress, facilitate relaxation and integrate body, mind and spirit.

Vinyasa
A mindful practice linking movement and breath.

Yin Yoga & Meditation
A quiet, contemplative class, yin yoga specifically addresses the connective tissue of the body. Yin postures are done with the muscles relaxed and held for up to five minutes. Class ends with a seated meditation.

Yoga for Backs
A gentle and restorative class with emphasis on techniques to strengthen the back, improve body posture, alleviate neck and back pain, lengthen and decompress the spine, and improve strength, balance and flexibility.

Yoga for Women
Postures, breath and centering techniques to meet the needs of women’s body/mind/spirit. All ages. Prenatal women welcome.

Yoga for Kids
Fun techniques for becoming more centered, grounded.
Ages 4 - 10. Parents are welcome to participate. $5 per person.

Yoga Fitness
A mindful dynamic hybrid of yoga and functional training. Emphasizing flexibility, core strength and balanced physical skills.

Chi Kung/Taoist Yoga
Learn qi cultivation through ancient Chinese, Korean and Japanese health and martial arts techniques.
